The Russell School is a one-form entry Nursery and Primary School, for children aged 4-11. The standard admission number is 30 per year group. The Nursery is part-time only from 09:00 –12:00 Monday to Friday.
If you wish to send your child to The Russell School, you are advised to contact the school office (01923 284 272) to make an appointment to look around the school. This offers the opportunity to have a tour of the school and to meet our staff.

The Russell School Nursery is a part-time, mornings only Nursery that runs from 09:00 -12:00 Monday to Friday. Parents can opt for their children to attend Nursery Lunch Club from 12:00 to 13:00 each day for a small charge. The JK Club, which provides before and after school care, provide a collection service for Nursery children from 1pm. Children are admitted into our Nursery once a year, in September.
Parents of children who wish to apply for a Nursery place for September 2019 should contact the School Office. Staff will be pleased to guide you through the application process which is now managed directly by the school. The application process will close in March and places will be offered by the end of the Spring term. If your child is offered a place in our Nursery we will contact you shortly after you have received your allocation letter to arrange visits for you and your child.
Please note that admission into our Nursery class does not guarantee a place in our Reception class. A separate application procedure managed by Hertfordshire County Council needs to be completed for admission into our Reception class.
Reception Class Admissions
All children join the Reception class in one intake (September). If your child is offered a place in our school, we will contact you shortly after you have received your allocation letter to arrange visits for you and your child.
The Education Department produces an information pack which informs parents how to apply for a Reception place and this is distributed through the Health Trusts via your child being registered with a local doctor. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of places available, places are allocated according to Hertfordshire’s admissions criteria. This is managed solely by the Hertfordshire Admissions Team.

In Year Admissions
Providing there are places available, we admit children into other classes throughout the school at any time of the year.
